Empire Homes of Maryland, Inc. (EHM) is a non-profit Community Housing Development Organization whose mission is to develop, manage, and maintain affordable residential, properties, for low-income people and those with disabilities. To eliminate unfit conditions and unmet needs which prevent people with disabilities from living productive long lives. In most cases our clients pay 30% of their income toward rent with the balance being paid through a housing subsidy.
EHM owns and operates over 160 low-income housing units in Coldstream, HarGovans, Bolton Hill, Station North, Reservoir Hill, Charles Village, Park Heights, Cherrydell and Lauraville neighborhoods. In addition, we manage the subsidies of more than 100 properties throughout Baltimore City & County owned by other landlords where AIRS clients reside.
In addition to our portfolio of properties that house AIRS clients, EHM's portfolio also includes affordable housing properties that are open to the general public. They include Lillian Jones (79 units in East Baltimore) built in partnership with French Development, Inc. and Chase House Apartments (189 units in MidTown Baltimore) partnership with Homes For America
